JMac Constructions add to the industry awards for the McCulloch Avenue Boardwalk

The AILA judges’ comments noted that while modest in scope and budget, the McCulloch Avenue boardwalk is a fine example of high quality public infrastructure. They continued their praise, commenting that the project’s apparent simplicity at first glance belies the care applied to it from planning through building, enhancing the use of the foreshore, stabilising the dune, protecting the native flora and fauna, and minimising impacts of the construction process.

At the Timber Vision Awards, the project was awarded the Overall Winner Award and the Landscape Award, showcasing the visionary use of timber on their innovative residential, commercial and landscape projects.

Completed in May last year for Frankston City Council, the McCulloch Avenue Boardwalk involved demolishing an existing access pathway through the Seaford Foreshore Reserve and replacing it with a new timber boardwalk. Construction involved the supply and installation of 69 linear metres of timber boardwalk founded on screw piles including 16 linear metres of seating attached to the entrance of the boardwalk.

These awards contribute to the combined three awards that the McCulloch Avenue Boardwalk has won in recent times, having been awarded the Design and Building category at the 2015 Victorian Coastal Awards for Excellence.
