About the project

Providence is a major master planned residential community in the Ripley Valley, set to include 7,000 homes and more than 200 hectares of dedicated parklands and recreational spaces.

JMac was engaged to deliver a landmark waterpark and adventure playground designed as a free, family‑friendly destination for the public.

Scope

Construction of an interactive waterpark with touch‑button controls, featuring separate junior and senior play zones

Supply and installation of an adventure playground with a six‑metre‑high skywalk, two large slides and a flying fox

Construction of 230 metres of curved, formed concrete seating and terrace walls

Delivery of 2,600m² of exposed and coloured concrete, including three flights of stairs and connecting pathways

Installation of large hand‑shaped sandstone feature rocks integrated into exposed concrete

Construction of custom landscape shelters

Construction of a six‑toilet amenities block and pump house

Construction of a large asphalt carpark

Supply and installation of LED street lighting connected to council headquarters via the new gateway system

Construction of fully irrigated feature gardens and open grassed areas

Outcomes

JMac carefully monitored the construction program to ensure the park was completed and ready for public use well ahead of the grand opening. Throughout delivery, the project team identified opportunities to improve value for the client, including recommending an alternative aluminium screen for the amenities block that resulted in significant cost savings.

In addition, the hand formed concrete stream was designed to safely regulate water levels without requiring an onsite lifeguard, allowing water to flow naturally, settle at a controlled depth, and then enter the holding tank for treatment and reuse.
