JMac secures another major parklands project

JMac Constructions has been awarded the Riverheart Parklands Stage 2 project. The $8 million parklands jointly funded by the Ipswich City Council and the Federal Government will extend along the Bremer River and include an extensive zero depth water park and over a kilometre of timber boardwalk connection King Edward Parade to the Bremer River.

The project re-teams key design and delivery personnel from the recently completed Robelle Domain parklands at Springfield who are looking forward to the new challenge of creating an engaging community parkland that complements the natural surrounds of the Bremer River.

“Riverheart Parklands Stage 1 was successfully completed by Council in 2006 and has been in heavy use by the community ever since: said Parks, Sport and Recreation Committee Chairperson, Councillor David Morrison.

“This project was only ever a part of a significantly broader vision for the re-integration of the river into the open space and recreational fabric of the city and will provide yet another place for the community to congregate and cool off in the summertime.

“Under the new plan Riverheart Parklands Stage 1 will be extended, in a similar fashion down as far at King Edward Parade and linked through a walk and cycleway to Bob Gamble Park.

“Around $3.4 million of the funding for the project has been committed by the Federal Government and approved in April of this year with the remainder coming from the Ipswich City Council.”

Cr Morrison said work would start soon on Riverheart Parklands Stage 2 with an expected completion date of May 2012, weather permitting.

“JMac Constructions recently completed the successful delivery of the Robelle Domain parklands in Springfield and this has proved extremely successful.

“The company will be using the same key design and delivery personnel on Riverheart Parklands Stage 2, but this project will have a very different identity in keeping with its location on the banks of the Bremer.”
