About the project

CityCycle was a Brisbane City Council initiative providing a European style bike hire scheme. At completion 2,000 bikes were available at nearly 200 locations within the Brisbane CBD and inner city suburbs. JMac was originally engaged to install the bike stations, advertising signs and associated infrastructure across 192 individual sites.  As a result of the high-quality work JMac performed during the original installation, JC Decaux continued to engage JMac to complete all future stages of the project including the removal and reinstatement of the sites when the program was discontinued.

Project scope

Installation of 148 bike stations

Installation of 164 citylights (2 metre by 1 metre advertising signs

Installation of 26 seniors (large billboard advertising signs)

Saw cutting and excavation in the CBD where there were numerous underground services

Successful management of high level constraints associated with working in malls, residential areas, parking zones, public transport corridors, clearways and dining and café precincts.

Outcomes

JMac and Brisbane City Council collaborated in a partnership style relationship to accelerate the program and maintain productivity.

The agile project team adjusted to numerous design changes necessary to overcome existing services clashes. In some cases, the infrastructure was relocated to a different area entirely.

The project team installed infrastructure seamlessly into existing landscapes and all works were completed in areas of high pedestrian and vehicular traffic with no incidents.
