Port of Brisbane Motorway Upgrade (Port Connect)
About the project
The Port of Brisbane Motorway is the key corridor servicing the Port of Brisbane in Queensland. JMac was engaged by the PortConnect Joint Venture, comprising of BMD Constructions and Seymour Whye, to rehabilitate and revegetate areas in the project. At the completion of the construction works, the contract was extended to incorporate a two-year maintenance period.
Scope
Supply and laying 4000m2 of turf
Planting of 200,000 tubes, mainly in swales
Planting of 50,000, 140 millimetre stock in formal garden beds
Planting of 400 large tree stock
Construction of two major wetland basins with approximately 3 kilometres of linear wetlands, 6 kilometres of drainage swales with over 70,000m2 of jute matt
Applied 170,000m2 of hydromulch with 12 types of native seeds incorporated into the mix
Over 25,000m3 of soil was imported onto site
Outcomes
JMac worked closely with the client to meet their budget requirements for the maintenance period.
This was achieved via adjustments to the scope and frequency of services which were required to be conducted at night to minimise disruption to the busy roadway.
The project team programmed works to ensure the hydromulch was placed within 24 hours of spreading topsoil, minimising the chances of sediment washing into existing creeks.
