About the project
JMac was engaged to deliver an upgrade to Heatley Park in Townsville, including an aeroplane-themed playground. The project was designed in close collaboration with the community to provide an inclusive facility for all ages.
Scope
Construction of a fully fenced playground and BMX pump track
Upgrade of sports field surfaces, including junior Rugby League goal posts
Installation of park amenities including picnic settings, bench seating, bin enclosures, bike rack, six shelters and two dual-top electric BBQs
Construction of an entry statement featuring stacked gabion cages and a five-metre concrete totem pole
Construction of an internal footpath network comprising plain, exposed and coloured concrete pavements
Installation of over 700m2 of rubber soft fall
Installation of an automatic irrigation system connected to council’s IRRinet
Landscaping works including garden beds, planting and turf installation
Hydromulch application
Installation of all associated electrical conduits, cabling, pits and communications for lighting and security cameras
Outcomes
Despite a tight delivery timeframe, JMac completed the project on time and under budget through proactive communication and close collaboration with the client and subcontractors.
Safety and environmental management remained a priority throughout the works, with dust impacts effectively managed through water trucks, tanks and fixed watering points across the site.
